Priya lives in the UK and loves cooking. She’s a home-chef and uses cooking as a creative pursuit and has written a book and a blog about food. She was born in Delhi to a South-Indian family and therefore has grown up with the best of both North and South Indian cuisine. Her favourite haunts growing up included a Dhaba in Rajiv Chowk (then C.P), Chandni Chowk (for chaat and parathas), the famous street-vendor in Shahjahan road and anything cooked by her mother or her food-loving relatives.
Having travelled extensively for work, she discovered that getting vegetarian food was often a bit hit and miss in some parts of the world. So she started cooking herself, often calling her mother long-distance to get some tips. She wrote her first book ‘Indian Festive Flavours’ to specifically talk about Tamil festivals and cuisine as a parting gift to her father. Married to an Englishman, she’s learnt more about British cuisine and has experimented with various international flavours. She’s particularly fond of creating fusion dishes with an Indian and a healthy twist.
